Lucknow 18 August, 2015: Celebrity Actor and Anchor of the program “Savdhan
India” Sushant Singh said on Tuesday that he hoped the campaign for creating a
sexual harassment free bus stop for girls and women will be an example for the
entire country and that like the” Lucknowi tehzeeb” this city would become an
example for the dignity of women and girls.He was in town for promoting the event
for UP POLICE Mahila Samman Prakoshth and Ngo Breakthrough.

He further said that entire society should join hands in creating an environment
wherein any mother, sister or daughter is able to move around freely and safely
outside her home and has a sense of security. For this the starting has to be made
by the individual.

DG Mahila Samman Prakoshth ,Sutapa Sanyal said that this is just the beginning of
the journey. Each one of us needs to understand that staring ,leering or passing
comments at a woman are all offences. It is the responsibility of every person that
we create an environment where no woman or girl needs to worry as to what will
happen to her if she enters the public space. She expressed confidence that that the
echo of the campaign which has been launched by the Savdhan India anchor at
Charbagh resonates all over India and appealed to Shri Sushant Singh to not only
make India alert but also aware of this widespread malady of Sexual Harassment of
girls and women in public spaces. She thanked him profusely for coming to
Lucknow exclusively for inauguration of this campaign

The Vice President of Breakthrough, Sonali Khan said that # Asking for it campaign
was based on a survey conducted in 6 States which clearly stated that 90% girls
and women faced Sexual Harassment at bus and auto stops once they came out of
their houses and this campaign has been launched with the idea of changing this
situation.It will be our endeavour that all of us work together to make Lucknow, which
is known for its culture, should also be known for the security and dignity of women.
Implementation Manager ,Breakthrough Krati Prakash said that she was happy that
the campaign has found support by Mahila Samman Prakoshth and Sushant
Singh.We need to carry it forward jointly.

Independent journalist Rudra Pratap Dubey said that no matter where we work we
have a responsibility towards the our home,family and society and hoped that the
beginning made at Charbagh will be reflected in every nook and corner,
SSP Lucknow said that the help desk will function 24 hrs with duties of one lady and
one male constable who will address any complaints of sexual harassment at
Charbagh bus stand.

connect with the cause through its songs. A nukkar natak was also enacted on this
occasion regarding this issue.
