16 Days of Activism is a campaign run every year to address the issue of gender based discrimination and violence. It begins on 25th November which is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women and runs till 10th December which is Human Rights Day.
The global theme for #16Days this year is #HearMeToo
. In the wake of the #MeToo movement, the idea of #HearMeToo is to amplify the voices of women from marginalised contexts, whose voices are not heard due to several reasons. These can be women who do not have access to the digital platforms on which this movement is primarily growing or the women who may be on the platform and yet not be heard and receive the support that other women from privileged backgrounds might receive. We will be carrying forward conversations on this issue and make an attempt at amplifying these voices on our social media platforms.
Apart from this, as a part of our #StreeLink conversations, we will be sharing stories of women friendships to push forth the narrative of ‘aurat hi aurat ki dost hai’ as opposed to ‘aurat hi aurat ki dushman hai’.
Do join us for these conversations! We look forward to interacting with you.
